About Us
The South Barito Kapuas Project is located within the Kapuas and South Barito regencies in Central Kalimantan. It aims to protect and restore 39,835 hectares of vital forests and peatland ecosystems, which are crucial for storing large amounts of COâ‚‚. Surrounded by 10 villages, the project area supports traditional livelihoods, including farming, fishing, and harvesting non-timber forest products.

Our mission is to prevent deforestation and ecosystem degradation by securing full legal control of the production forest area through a Multiuse Forest Utilization (PBPH) license, focusing on ecosystem restoration. The project takes a holistic approach to conservation, implementing a range of activities that are designed to achieve long-lasting positive impacts.
By integrating local knowledge, sustainable practices, and innovative conservation strategies, the South Barito Kapuas Project aims to create a thriving ecosystem that benefits both nature and the surrounding communities.
What we believe in....
Vision
Sustainable forest management that is inclusive and sustainable, and supports high carbon sequestration to combat climate change and its impacts.
Mission
-
Preserve and improve the quality of forest ecosystems and their functions.
-
Restore degraded forest resources.
-
Implement participatory forest resource management.
-
Improve the institutional and economic quality of an inclusive and sustainable society.
-
Support carbon emission reduction programs.

Our Programs
Our project encompasses a comprehensive set of program aimed at creating a harmonious balance between environmental conservation and community well-being.
01
Ecosystem Restoration
Our rewetting activities restore wetland and peatland hydrology to boost carbon storage. We build peat wetting infrastructure, like tube wells and canal blocks, and use water management techniques to maintain natural hydrological balance, enhancing ecosystem health.
02
Livelihood Development
We empower communities to mitigate climate change through forest restoration and fire prevention, promoting sustainable carbon management and biodiversity conservation. This aligns with the UN's SDGs, supporting human well-being by providing food, clean water, climate resilience, health, education, and economic growth across agriculture, forestry, and other sectors.
03
Sustainable Forest Management
We restore degraded forests and establish new ones to boost carbon stocks and support ecosystem rehabilitation. Our approach includes natural regeneration, direct seeding, and strategic afforestation in non-forested areas, guided by rooting assessments to ensure long-term sustainability.
